McCain and the card up his sleeve

What to do when you can't win the ticket on your own, pull in a Woman!! Not just any woman a mom of 5 children , one of which is enlisted in the Service and the other who has Down's Syndrome. That just about covers it right there. You have got the minority platform covered right there with this woman. What a wild card this decision is for McCain. I am still in shock over this. I knew he would have to do something tricky so as not to lose by a landslide but this does beat all. I need to pull my jaw up off the floor.
Sarah Palin seems like a very nice lady and I am sure she has done a great job in Alaska but this just seems like desperate times that called for desperate measures. Seriously, if McCain being as old as he is were to have health issues she would be our President, not sure how I feel about that.
Anyways, if this doesn't prove what a game politics has turned into I don't know what would.
What an interesting road we have ahead of us in this race for the White House. Can't wait to see how things shake down.

I agree . . . What scares me is that if this is an example of the quality of his "important" decisions we don't stand a freakin' chance if he's elected . . .

That's why I'm running and just so you know, SpongeBob SquarePants has made the short list of my VP considerations . . .

Tim you have now successfully started and ended my day with a good heart felt laugh. YOU ROCK!!

After reviewing some carefully selected pictures of Gov. Sarah Palin on the Internet, I am now recanting my position . . . Go McCain/PALIN . . .

She's hot!

what exactly do you dislike about her? how is she any less suited for the job than Biden? and are you suggesting that McCain doesn't really think she is the best person for the job, but merely chose her because she covers so many bases?

Noel- you must have watched the DNC & believed that no one else has a chance of winning besides Obomba. Get ready for the RNC. It should be equally nauseating. That's why I don't care. I still want to see the secret group of free masons that actually control the president & see where they stand... Oh wait, there position hasn't changed. My mom asked me what I thought about McCain's choice? I had no idea other than it was a lady, but now that Tim said she's hot, I'll probably check her out. Vote for Richard Prior & "none of the above." (misc. richard prior movie reference)

tim - again so funny.
allie- first, whoo hoo let those opinions fly girl, second i don't dislike her at all and i don't know much more about her than i do biden, i just thought it was so completely a strategic move on mccain's end to put a woman in there, any woman for that matter because it adds a whole in your face attitude about the minority ticket that the obama camp has got going for it.
i do think yes he chose her to cover all the bases for surwa!!
ben- funny, i have not been watching anything but abc for my news and then of course the internet which we all know is probably republican owned and operated....just kidding :)
i am just thinking that most people i have talked with are ready for something different but that doesn't mean that obama will win although, i do think these things are rigged and we haven't had a democrat in a while and so it is there turn to ruin our country some more!!
won't be voting for richard, although this guy tim has got a pretty good platform going especially if he picks sponge bob to run with, although i thought he should have picked betty boop to cover his bases.

Hey sis. I tried to reach you but what a cruddy connection.

You know, I was unaware of who was going to run with McCain. So now I can look into it.

I'm a little disheartened period with politics. Maybe that's why I never became a lawyer and entered myself as I was planning on it. I still think we need good people in office who are willing to do the right thing. She seems to have put her money where her mouth is, taking a pay cut, cutting taxes in Alaska, but also having one of the largest budgets there. Her family seems cool but I guess that's not what we're voting on. Could she be the VP and President if necessary? I'm going to hold my tongue at this point from any opinion. Not because I don't have any but because I'm still weighing everything.

Here are some comments from your leaders in Nevada:

Nevadans offered insights and reaction Friday to presumptive Republican presidential nominee U.S. Sen. John McCain's selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential running mate.

Here are some comments:

U.S. Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., who is leading GOP efforts to take control of the U.S. Senate:

"Sen. McCain has again proven that he has the experience and judgment this country needs in choosing Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential candidate. Gov. Palin's conservative reform credentials are rock solid and makes clear what we can expect from a McCain administration. I commend Sen. McCain for his choice."

U.S. Rep. Dean Heller, R-Carson City:

"Sarah Palin is an outstanding choice for vice president. As a Western governor, she understands the challenges that face Western states such as federal land management. Last month, during my trip to ANWR (Arctic National Wildlife Refuge), I had the privilege to meet her and discuss energy issues facing our nation.

She is very knowledgeable and her experience with energy development will prove critical in the months ahead as our nation still struggles with high gas prices.... Gov. Palin shares our Western values of smaller government, lower taxes, and the protection of the Second Amendment. She will be a strong voice for Western states as vice president."

Kenny Guinn, former Nevada governor, a Republican, who led Mitt Romney's presidential effort in Nevada:

"My choice by far was Mitt Romney. ... I think a lot of good people were passed over with good experience (such as Tim Pawlenty, Mike Huckabee and Tom Ridge). (Palin) became a governor after I left (office) so I don't know her. I only know what I see on TV. I thought (the other choices) had a great deal of experience and that's going to be needed. Senator McCain is 72 years of age and somehow we have someone that's 44 with no experience in terms of foreign policy. She's been a governor for about a year and eight months now, she's been a mayor in a small town. But the president has the right to pick the individual that he or she wants so he made the decision."

yeah, maybe we should keep politics out of our precious friendship. :)

oh boy howdy, this is fun!!
jen- first of all i can't stand dean heller if there was a way i could delete his quote from your comment i would. he creeps me out.
second- you sound as though you have changed your tune about obama. i bet it's a bit hard to follow over there but i have to say that i am disappointed. i thought i had won you over. hee hee hee
allie- dawl you know we could go anywhere with any topic even politics and still our friendship would withstand the test of time. don't you dare hold out on me now that you have entered this conversation. i love to hear what is going on in that amazing brain of yours, especially because someday you might just be the wife of a politician:) let's not forget who i married and how opposed our hubbies have always been when it comes to this country. i married the man who wore an anarchy charm on his neck and burned flags and you married reagan's and willie nelson's biggest fan!!

I'm gonna go against the flow on this one and say that I like what Palin has to offer. I like the fact that she hasn't been in Washington or even in politics for eons. I actually think that that can be a good thing. She's not stuck in the good 'ol boy club and can hopefully bring on some changes. I like that she's gone up against the big oil companies. I like that she wants to drill for oil in Alaksa. And I like that she's a woman. Potential to be the first woman vice-president and who knows, maybe even the first woman president. A lot of people said they would vote for a woman, just not Hillary Clinton. Perhaps they'll vote for Sarah Palin. She seems very down to earth and it looks like she has a good head on her shoulders. Sure, McCain used strategy when picking her, wouldn't you if you were in his shoes? He's doing his darndest to win right? But you have to admit, it was a pretty good move on his part. I think this race just got a whole lot closer.

Hilary- yes he absolutely did the right thing by picking her still I don't think that a VP has ever had that much to do once they are elected other than be a name on a ticket so we shall see if it would change his leadership or not. Some of the things you said about Palin for things you like about her are things that Obama is. He has not been in politics long either. He also has a voting record of going against the big oil companies and also didn't get his campaign money from big-wig lobbyist that he would then have to pay back once in Washington. I read the article that you posted with Warren's interview it was really cool to see how they each answered so differently.
About Palin- I like the fact that she was even a consideration and I suppose we all have Hilary to thank for that. I just think that had he been running against anyone else she might not have been on the ticket. Yes absolutely he chose her to win and yes I do think it will make the race a bit closer it certainly has made it more interesting. I might actually watch the republican convention now :)
