Garbage Men (or women)

The waste management workers in our area are on strike. This past Tuesday I was more concerned than most to make sure our two Huge, Full buckets of trash made it to the side of the road to be picked up.
Can I get a witness that when you have a kid's birthday party, or really any party the aftermath is always A LOT of trash? Well, that was the case for us this Tuesday.
We made sure to have our trash out early that day and so I was surprised that when I came home in the afternoon on Tuesday that it still had not been picked up.
I was then told by the kids that the rest of the neighborhood's trash had not been picked up either.
My mom jokingly laughed and said, "The Garbage man went on Strike!"
I laughed.
We all laughed.
But the truth is that it was no laughing matter.
They were/ARE on Strike!

So let me go into some detail here.
We live on 5 acres of property with 2 other families.
Right now there are a total of 13 of us.
13 people can make for a lot of trash.
So the bags are piling up, and one of the handy barge men here just said not to worry if it goes on for too long we can just pile it all in the back of the truck and take it to the dump.
But wait.... The dump is closed too.

I don't think Barge Men like it when they can't "Fix" the problem.
So here we all sit and wait for the strike to be over.
Apparently, the Waste Management workers feel underpaid, and not appreciated.
I would just like to say to you if you are Garbage Man or Woman in the Redmond WA. area

I APPRECIATE YOU.... PLEASE COME BACK!!

*moral of the story today folks, be thankful for the simple

You better go buy some bottles of water so that you can make them feel appreciated when you hand them a nice cold bottle of water when they come back!

yikes! Hopefully it ends soon, or people might resort to burning it...a very smelly solution!

Oh man!
I grew up in suburban Detroit, every summer there were stories about garbage piling up in front of houses in the city. A gross problem to have, hopefully the strike ends quickly!

We all love and appreciate our "garbage men", Uncle Kay used to be a garbage man...Poppa Kay used to leave bottles of whiskey for them at Christmas time. Redmond is a wealthy town and they won't want to let negotiations go on for so long that things get too inconvenient...that said, thank God for Glad Bags! (Just keep the four-leggeds away from them)

Yeah, whenever the DO come back, you should all write them Thank You cards with cookies or something. Then they'll KNOW they are so appreciated!

I'm sorry to hear about the garbage strike - that really stinks. No pun intended. Did you see the episode of Monk where the garbage men in SF went on strike and he couldn't focus until he found a clean room at the computer place? If it gets too bad, you should go crash Microsoft and hide out in their clean room...
