I have for quite sometime wanted to do an Ode to Sisterhood and Friendship. But I found myself not having really the exact right words to express such a grand gift in this life. I can't even begin to tell you how truly blessed I am by all the sisters I have in my life. So because I am following John Mayer's advice and "saying what I need to say" I give you a poem that has put into words what I could not.
*If you feel like having the full weepy girly experience while reading click on the song below before you start reading.
"I love you
Not only for what you are,
But for what I am
When I am with you.
I love you
Not only for what
You have made of yourself,
But for what
You are making of me.
I love you
For the part of me
That you bring out;
I love you
For putting your hand
Into my heaped-up heart
And passing over
All the foolish, weak things
That you can't help
Dimly seeing there,
And for drawing out
Into the light
All the beautiful belongings
That no one else had looked
Quite far enough to find.
I love you because you
Are helping me to make
Of the lumber of my life
Not a tavern
But a temple;
Out of the works
Of my every day
Not a reproach
But a song.
I love you
Because you have done
More than any creed
Could have done
To make me good,
And more than any fate
Could have done
To make me happy.
You have done it
Without a touch,
Without a word,
Without a sign.
You have done it
By being yourself.
Perhaps that is what
Being a friend means,
After all." Roy Croft
Dedicated to all my sisters out there.
Some born by blood.
Some born out of the heart.
Some because of Christ.
Some because of family ties.
Some born from necessity.
Some born from this crazy blogging world.
Some because our children became friends first.
Some because we worked together, or our husbands did.
Some born from laughter.
Some born from sorrow.
Some because of a crazy wild ass book club.
Some because of a mild mellow bible study.
But To all of you I say, THANK YOU.
My world is a much better place because you are in it.
There is Nothing but Love for you,
Noël
