eharmony.com

Akay, so I have this friend ahem.... that well lets just say, I want to see enter into the world of marital bliss, and well... this other friend and myself were thinking why don't we secretly put them on one of those singles internet things. Ya know just to see what the results would be, ya know just for fun. Well, my Giant is not so happy with me and I thought why not find out what all my bloggin pals think.
So if you were this friend what would your thoughts be??? I haven't signed on the dotted line yet for this friend BUT the first 5 matches look promising and I am oh.... so....... tempted!!!!

if I were the friend.....

Dunno. It might depend on what kind of single's internet site it was.

I'm pretty suspicious of those things in general. Nervous about the kind of person one might meet--I think I have a preconceived image of the type of guys who might surf these sites.

you asked, so here it is: that's oh so wrong, & is what I'd call meddling of the worst degree. I'd also see it as a violation of personal privacy, trust, friendship, truth, justice, and the american way.

Getting your 'friend' hitched isn't your issue, - & if your friend wants to eharmony (or cupid.com) then they can do it themselves. Let them make adult choices, & then you & your other friend won't be responsible for the stalking & spamming that comes by way of the eharmony crowd.

But that's just what I think. Anyone else?

i would feel like i was crossing a "line" in doing something like this. outside of prayers & expressed opinions to friends, i think it's meddling. i believe that your intention is good. this brings to mind a saying, "good initiative/intention, bad judgement"!

that's my 2 cents.

I have to agree with scoey and jaybird. I think that if your friend wanted to use eharmony or the like, that's her choice. After checking out the field for her (which I see nothing wrong with...), you could casually make your recommendation for her, but it has to be her decision to sign up and put herself out there...
On a side note, I personally did not enjoy my experience with eharmony...

I thought about how I would feel if I were in that situation and my friend did that for me and I don't think I would be very happy.

Has all the potential of a good intention gone awry.

thanks guys. i really did want the commentary or i wouldn't have put it out there. i think i will for sure get permission before i go any further.
i tried to think if it was me and i thought i probably wouldn't have minded but then i haven't been single for a long long time so i thought i really don't know.

The guy that started eHarmony is a Christian man and has written some really good books (Finding Contentment was my fav)...however, i would never go any farther than perhaps suggesting it as a "interesting" thing to check out (if they first initiate the suggestion by talking about how they want to find someone).
